December 2007
Happy New YearI hope you all had a lovely relaxing Christmas and are now looking forward to the New Year with all the hope and promise it brings. There are lots of things planned for this year, as always, and I will do my best to set out what is happening over the course of the next term.
Alwoodley Monday afternoon and Saturday classes
With immediate effect Monday afternoon and all Saturday classes at Alwoodley will be in the Small Hall. This is mainly because it is warmer!
10 week Term
In order to make sure each class has a 10 week term Saturday classes will take place every Saturday until Easter. This is because Easter falls early and schools break up on Thursday 20th March. Normally we would have had the last Saturday class on the 22nd but as this is in the middle of Easter, we are having to move that class to the Saturday in half-term, namely 16th February. All other classes are as normal.
IDTA Exams
These are set according to hall availability. All pupils will take their exam at their own Centre. Your bills will have the exam fees on them as well as your regular fees. This will be our second set of IDTA exams and we are still finding our way around the system, but we will try to make the timetable as workable as possible.
The dates are :-
AMC – 29th January 2008
EACC - 17th February 2008
RAD Exam Results
The results came through and were quite frankly, weird. If you were one of the ones who got a disappointly low mark, please don't panic, as the marks were very strange indeed. We only got two Distinctions, four Merits, and the remainder were Passes. I cannot even say why the marks were so bizarre as there is no real common denominator.
Special mention to :-
Becky Bonthron who got a Distinction for the first time – well done, see it is worth the wait, and for achieving a 10/10.
Jemma Appleson achieved two 10/10s – fantastic
Becky Craig who achieved two 9/10s – brilliant, only three marks off a Distinction.......
Potternewton Show
Thank you to those who did support the show, however it was ultimately cancelled due to a disappointingly low turn out, and then some of the potential performers fell ill. I think the Christmas holidays just fell odd this year. So, we will be rearranging this for some time in the half term – watch this space.
EACC Charity Gala in favour of Wakefield Hospice
Preparations for this will start in earnest this week. The gala mainly affects the EACC pupils, but I know the AMC pupils were keen to join in the fundraising fun. I will let you have a timetable of events on a monthly basis. The show will be some time in April now, due to early Easter holidays and other commitments. I am just liaising with the hall providers to get an exact date, and will get back to you as soon as possible. It is likely that the Show will take place on Saturday and Sunday as the hall is in use on a Friday evening now.
RAD Exams
The next session will be in July, I will book this this week, and get the date to you.
Half Term
Spring Half Term is 9th to 18th February.
Fonteyn/Nureyev Competition
Preparations are underway for this. It will take place on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th January in Manchester. Our competitors are Heather Irving, Natalie Alleston, Caitlin Rose and Richard Johnston. If anyone wants to come and support us please let me know.
And finally........
A massive thank you to Claire Crosby who helped to organise the Christmas Party. Thank you Claire.
