April/May 2008

RAD Exams

The paperwork has now come back.  The times will be posted on the website and on the School notice boards.  The examiner is the same for both days, a Mrs O’Dunlaing (pronounced O’Doolyn).

IDTA  Exams – EACC

There has been a mix up at IDTA head office resulting in them double booking us, so we are back to square one.  I have sent off another exam form so will hopefully get another date before the end of term.

Invoices

Should all now be paid, or have payment arrangements attached to them.  There are still loads outstanding – gentle nag.

EACC Charity Gala in favour of Wakefield Hospice – 19th & 20th April 2008

Well done to everyone who participated, whether performer or helper.  You were all fantastic.  It never ceases to amaze me how smoothly these things run on the day.  Anyhow, fundraising is ongoing, the following are available :-

·         DVD of the Sunday morning performance £3.50, all orders to be received before 17th May please

·         Flowers – if you recall Amanda did a fab backdrop with flowers on it, all the performers had their name in them.  We are selling these off for £1 each.

·         All you Need is Love Backdrop – again, this is still kicking about, would make a lovely decoration in someone’s bedroom, garage etc.  All offers considered – sealed bids in an envelope please and it will go to the highest bidder.  All bids to be in by Saturday 24th May please.

·         Photos – loads were taken on the day, and will be around for you to buy at a cost of £1 each.

However, I am delighted to advise you that we have raised, so far, a whopping great £1,688.33. How great is that?

Guess the number of eggs

Well done to Natalie Alleston who was the closest with 245 eggs – enjoy.

Alwoodley Community Association Gala – Sunday 8th June 2008

Consent slips are at both Centres, can you please let me know who is performing this week, so that we can sort out the numbers we are doing.

Hill Top Gala – Saturday 28th June

We have been invited to perform at Hill Top School again this year.  Again, consent slips are at both Centres, can I have these back as soon as possible.

Shop

My apologies, the shop has been rather erratic to say the least recently.  This was partly because of the show.  Hopefully we are back on track now, so if you have not received what you have ordered, fill in a new order form and hit me with it, and we will get it to you asap.

New Teachers and Classes

I am thrilled to advise you that we have not one, not two, but three new teachers joining the School.  The three bring their own skills and expertise to the School and should compliment the work that Trudy and I already do.  Here is a little resume of them all.

Eve Headley
Eve graduated from Phil Winston’s Theatre Works after studying with her local teacher in South Milford.  She gained fantastic marks in modern jazz and went on to perform in shows around the country and latterly on cruise ships.   Eve currently performs with Elite Eve can bring tons of performing experience to the School and is keen to help us venture into the world of festivals/competitions.  Eve will be teaching competition classes, street/stretch classes and adult ballet and street on Mondays at East Ardsley and Thursdays at Alwoodley.

Sophie Crosthwaite
Sophie graduated from the Stella Mann College after studying with Angela Reynolds in Ossett. There she gained her teaching qualification with the ISTD, and went on to perform in many touring productions.  Sophie also works with Theatre Train in Wakefield and Leeds.  Sophie will be teaching musical theatre classes at East Ardsley on Fridays.

Katie Karlson
Katie is currently in her second year studying at Leeds University for a BA Honours Degree in Dance.  Katie is keen to work with small children and has been working with me at East Ardsley on Saturday mornings and will be joining us to teach the younger end of the School at either Centre.

RAD Days of Dance

There are two RAD events coming up and they promise to be good ones…

Musical Theatre Workshop -28th September 2008 for children aged 7 or Grade 1 and above (maximum age 11).  These workshops are always brilliant and a good first external class to take.  The application form can be found on the website, please download it and send it off.

Master Class - 12th October 2008 for students, Intermediate standard and above please.

Both courses are to be held at West Park Centre, Spen Lane, Leeds and I will be at both.
